Contrary to common belief, here are some key economic stats on Australia’s skilled migrants:
– Skilled migrants pay more tax than citizens
– Skilled migrants receive less benefits than citizens
– Skilled migrants have a median full-time income of circa $100,000 – 40% higher than the national average. This is STARK contrast to claims of ‘rorts’, ‘underpaying foreigners’ and ‘ripping off the system’ that the Labour government and unions are claiming. Instead it shows the import of a highly specialised, highly skilled workforce into Australia.
– Over $880m contributed to the federal budget in a given year
As at the end of 2012, there were 1,747,870 temp entrants to Australia. Of these only 157,110 were temporary skilled workers (i.e. 457 holders).
