Work and Holiday Visas for Chinese Nationals legislated

A new legislative instrument was registered yesterday, solidifying the Work and Holiday Visa (subclass 462) extension to passport holders from the People’s Republic of China.

The new instrument comes into effect on the 21st September 2015.

The arrangements are a flow-on effect from the signing of the China Australia Free Trade Agreement (ChAFTA), and will compliment the already major inbound Chinese tourism market that recently was reported to bring more than $7bn in contribution to the Australian economy. Australia has one of the world’s most successful work and holiday visa programmes, with reciprocal agreements in place with partners from all over the world.
